NotesOnInequalty#15.4. Wealth Without Welfare

Post 15.4.

Notes on Inequality | Wealth Without Welfare (Nigeria).

When Wealth Divides.

Natural resources can create prosperity – but not always fairness.

In countries like Nigeria and Venezuela, vast resource wealth has not translated into broad-based well-being. Instead limited distribution, governance challenges, and overdependence on a single resource have often widened economic gaps.

This contrast shows that resources alone do not determine outcomes – policies and institutions do.

Resource wealth is powerful – but without inclusion, it can deepen inequality.
