The United Nations has set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be achieved by 2030. Goal 1 is No Poverty and Goal 10 is Reduced Inequality. The goals are closely interconnected.
While many countries have reduced poverty over the years, inequality has continued to widen. This is a challenge that deserves greater attention.
Economic growth remains important. But perhaps it is also time to give greater focus on the distribution of growth, so that its benefits reach those who need them most.
Along with government policies, every citizen can also contribute to building a more inclusive society.
